Speech therapy is eligible for reimbursement with flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), and health reimbursement accounts (HRA). They are not eligible for reimbursement with dependent care flexible spending accounts and limited care flexible spending accounts (LCFSA).

Your health plan may offer reimbursement for speech therapy.  Some plans may have out-of-network benefits which may entitle you to reimbursement of some or all of the costs related to speech therapy with an out-of-network or private provider.  

Call your plan to see if you’re eligible for out-of-network coverage and what exactly the terms of those benefit are.  You will be provided with treatment and payment information for each session so that you can submit it to your insurance company.
